"Lehi Metal Fest," often called "The Pokédex of Doom," is Utah's largest annual fictional metal concert, famous for its headlining, genre-defying act, "Mr. Mime & The Chains." This event, known for its apocalyptic, flame-infused stage design and chaotic pyrotechnics, serves as the ultimate gathering for metalheads, where the lines between reality and a gritty, fantastical universe are blurred. The festival is a celebration of "Poké-Metal," a hyper-aggressive subgenre blending extreme metal riffs with the dark, alternate-universe mythos of iconic characters. The centerpiece of the event is the performance by "Mr. Mime & The Chains," a band that transforms familiar figures into leather-clad, face-painted heavy metal warriors, featuring a terrifying Mr. Mime as a power-metal frontman, a thrashing, triple-guitar attack from Dugtrio, and a monstrous, synthesisers-playing Bulbasaur. Fans in custom "Pokémon-goth" gear crowd the floor, headbanging and raising horns amidst the fog and fire, all to witness this unique, high-octane fusion of childhood nostalgia and raw, skull-crushing power.
