I launched my personal injury law firm in June 2009 with zero clients and have built it into a thriving practice. Over the past 18 years, I have successfully settled more than 400 cases. Unlike attorneys who only focus on legal work, I’ve run every facet of my practice myself — from client acquisition and marketing to accounting, tax preparation, and negotiating settlements with insurance companies. This gives me a unique perspective on what it truly takes to succeed as a solo personal injury lawyer. I coach lawyers and legal professionals from direct, lived experience across multiple sectors of the profession. I began my career in Big Law, served as a criminal prosecutor in government, and later worked as in-house corporate counsel at Amazon. I also spent years in legal recruitment and executive search, advising firms and companies on hiring, performance, and advancement decisions. I understand the pressure of billable hours, client demands, internal politics, and the unrelenting expectation of responsiveness that defines modern legal practice. My coaching combines strategic career expertise with a holistic approach that considers the whole person — not just the résumé. Legal careers affect identity, relationships, health, and long-term wellbeing. Having personally navigated the intensity of round-the-clock client service and high-stakes environments, I know that sustainability matters. Wellness practices were not a luxury in my own career; they were essential to functioning at a high level. As a recent Stanford Law School JD graduate and a Knight-Hennessy Scholar, I bring a range of experience in public service legal roles as a law student and new attorney, including with the Department of Justice, private public interest firms, and federal clerkships. My diverse legal background, from clerking to interning with the House Foreign Affairs Committee Legal Counsel, equips me with a deep understanding of the legal field. I am passionate about helping aspiring legal professionals navigate their career paths, offering insights into law school applications, internships, and clerkships. Prior to moving in-house at a private investment fund (where I currently serve as General Counsel), I spent the first 5-6 years of my career at top law firms like Kirkland & Ellis and Gibson Dunn, where I specialized in complex M&A transactions and corporate governance, particularly in the energy sector. I hold a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in Economics from Texas A&M University.

I'm a Stanford Law School grad working in-house in business operations at a startup. I previously advised startups at Goodwin Procter and developed product legal strategy at Microsoft. Finding a job as a summer associate or full-time attorney is a unique process with its own set of rules, and the rules have changed dramatically in recent years. I began my career in patent litigation at Kirkland & Ellis in New York City, one of the top firms in the country. After I left Kirkland, I moved to various states with my family and created employment opportunities where few opportunities were available. I want to share with you the skills I developed so you will be able to nail your legal acumen and also navigate social and professional situations to develop the career you are looking for. Securing summer and post-graduate employment is now the responsibility of every individual student or attorney, but you don't have to go through the process alone.
