VP at $1B Bain-cap spin out, Ex-McKinsey Consultant
After spending 3 years at McKinsey, I moved to the buyside as an Associate to join a $1B Mid-market fund in Boston called AVALT, formed by a collection of former Bain Capital partners. I was promoted to Senior Associate and then Vice President without needing to go to business school, and was an interviewer for intern, analyst, and associate candidates. AVALT is a "consultant-friendly" PE shop, so my coaching is best directed at those targeting funds like AVALT (e.g., Golden Gate, Bain Capital, Serent, HGGC) than it is for IB-heavy shops.
