Description

Launching a self-funded search is one of the most exciting and terrifying things I've ever done. Questions like "Am I ready to do this?", "Will I be successful?", and "How do I start?" were major focuses for me over the last few years prior to launching my search. As a coach, my goal is to help you think through these questions and share some hard-earned lessons. This package is designed to: - Help you evaluate if search is right for you (Traditional or Self-funded) and why - Provide you with an overview of the Search ecosystem and current trends (tldr: it's hotter than ever) - Structure a basic strategy for how to structure your search (geographic vs. industry vs. hybrid) - Provide information and guidelines on how to differentiate yourself as a prospective buyer to brokers, investors, and sellers - Starting point on how to think about sourcing key partners (Lenders, Due Diligence, etc. )

I'm a big believer in the word "Coach." That means that I take a listening-first approach and want the sessions to really be about you and your particular circumstance. I'm not here to rattle off knowledge that you can find online. Rather I care about supporting you in finding the fit with what your desired outcomes are, and coaching you to reach those goals.

Self-funded Searcher turned SMB Owner

I have experience structuring a self-funded search, evaluating deals, conducting due diligence, working with sellers, and modeling post-transaction financials. I can help those who are considering this path, are mid-search, or are in the final innings of a deal. In 2022, as an MBA student at Yale School of Management, I took three courses on ETA and wrote two papers with A.J. Wasserstein, Pioneer in the world of Search and ETA. I fell in love with the model and determined that I needed to find a way to do this for my career. Following my MBA, I interned at a Traditional Search fund investor for the summer and learned a great deal about what investors look for in Searchers. Following a two-year stint in Management Consulting, I decided to pursue a self-funded search in my home state of Utah. After 6 months of full-time search, I found a small company at which I was hired with the intention to acquire the company (Acqui-hire) and which I will close by late Summer 2025.
